Congratulations to Miyawata Dion Stout, the winner of this year’s Rob Stewart Youth Eco-Hero award from the Planet in Focus International Environmental Film Festival. This annual award is presented in loving memory of Rob Stewart to young, passionate eco heroes who are raising awareness of the plight of our environment through their unique artistic talents.

Miyawata has been involved in climate and social activism for many years and has spearheaded an impressive collection of initiatives, including a student climate strike, educating her high school peers on first nation truth and reconciliation, and co-authoring a textbook chapter on “Indigenous Land, Health, and Philosophy.” We are excited to support the wonderful work of youth activists like Miyawata with the Rob Stewart Youth Eco-Hero award and can’t wait to see all the good that the youth of today are sure to bring into tomorrow!
